Live Review : Harbinger + Dekaytah + Dacara @ Rebellion, Manchester on September 28th 2024

Harbinger top the bill in what is otherwise a showcase of local talent for this all-dayer at Rebellion. There’s a mix of styles on display, but at the core if it all is metal, and some unique and fresh takes on various sub-genres at that. It’s an early start, and we’re told the venue has plenty of footfall from the mid-afternoon doors until the evening when we land at the venue.

Live Review : Lost Society + North Atlas + Dacara @ Rebellion, Manchester on October 23rd 2023

Dacara are a 4-piece that prove uneasy to pigeonhole. Their sound is kind of rock with a dance twist and just mereist lashing of goth for good measure. The singer has a good voice (if somewhat lacking in power) and that is complimented nicely by the guitarist’s shouty growl. Every now and again it skirts the edge of commercial euro-rock but then plunges back into the subterranean delights of the underground.

Live Review : Esprit D'Air + Diamond Black + Dacara @ Academy 3, Manchester on February 22nd 2023

Opening for the night, Manchester’s own Dacara take to the stage with their brand of pop metal infused with themes from anime, videogames, and popular culture. This young band needs our support, and they certainly prove they deserve it with their energetic set. The songs touch on serious topics like calling out liars and those stuck in denial, but equally with fun tracks about weebs, sell-outs, and psychopathic anime girls. Fans of early Sertraline, Lake Malice and Within Destruction will enjoy their mix of bouncy and fun pop metal, which is reminiscent of a more rocky Future Palace.
