After growing up on a diet of Duran Duran, AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne and whatever songs were playing on the most recent Tony Hawks release, at the age of 13 I attended my first Download Festival. It was here my eyes were opened to a plethora of new Bands and Genres and most importantly, i was made aware how incredible live music was. My real musical journey had begun.
Despite only being 13/14, through having the privilege of looking a lot older than the “16+ Only” tag that was a staple at most live venues, I was taking myself to watch so many bands. Bands such as Billy Talent, Machine Head, Airbourne, Black Veil Brides (we all make mistakes sometimes) among countless others; all whilst still being able to wake up ready for school the next morning. 13 years later and all that has changed is that i no longer attend school and waking up the next morning has become an absolute pain and I hate it.
I have since expanded my musical taste and can be found listening to everything from Metal and Classic Rock to Hip Hop and Grime, Americana to Country to some contemporary pop Music. If I think it's good it probably has a place on my ever evolving Spotify Playlist.
My love for live music has seen me travel all over the world, attending Metal Festivals overseas, catching DMX perform at BB Kings in the middle of New York City and almost, just almost, watching Eddie Vedder preform in the ruins of a German Castle – don’t go on a night out using your Passport as an ID in the days prior to travelling abroad…
After every show I attend, I am an absolute buzz of energy and just want to tell the person next to me how amazing (or in some cases how bad) that show was, however I instead, chose to keep it to myself. After deciding to “grow up and get a real job” as the cliché states, I decided to study to become a History Teacher, and it is here I reignited my love for writing. I thought “what better time than now” to finally release all that excited energy, and so my ROCKFLESH Journey begins.
