Bloodstock Festival Countdown : 30 Bands Not To Miss - The Night Flight Orchestra
28. The Night Flight Orchestra - Ronnie James Dio Stage - Sunday, August 11th, 14.55 - 15.40
By the time Sunday rolls around at this year's Bloodstock we all need a bit of glamour poured back into our lives. We will have had more heavily inked young men scream at us about the inadequacies of life than you can shake a stick at.
Normally we thrive on the indignation and narcissistic despair but by Sunday believe me we will all need a little bit of glitzy sunshine in our lives. This is where The Night Flight Orchestra kicks in.. They are as cheesy as a Swiss cheese factory and they don't half know it. They trade in lusciously wonderful melodic lounge core. It's decadent, it's delicious and it's got choruses that seem to straddle the multiuniverse. They are the multicoloured saccharine adrenaline shot you didn't know you needed and for a short time we will be bathed in the glitz of Monte Carlo as opposed to the grime of derbyshire.
P.S. The fact that they share members with the legendary Soilwork cannot be presently confirmed or denied......
I just love Metal. I love it all. The bombastity of symphonic, the brutality of death, the rousing choruses of power, the nihilistic evil of black, the pounding atmospherics of doom, the whirling time changes of prog, the faithful familiarity of trad, the other worldlyness of post, the sheer unrefined power of thrash. I love it all!
