Bloodstock Festival 2024 : New Blood & EMP Stages Preview

Bloodstock Festival 2024 is set to showcase an impressive array of rising talent on both the New Blood and EMP Stages. From the ethereal sounds of post-metal to the raw aggression of hardcore and thrash, this year’s lineup promises a diverse and electrifying experience. Here's a look at some of the bands that have stood out to us here at ROCKFLESH and we think you should checkout.

Leicester’s Final Coil are carving out a niche for themselves with their interesting mix of alternative, post-metal, and progressive rock. Drawing influences from bands like Tool, The Ocean, Killing Joke and Alice In Chains, their sound is both familiar and refreshingly unique. 2017 debut, “Persistence of Memory”, received significant praise from publications such as Zero Tolerance Magazine, yet they’ve become even better, darker and heavier through their subsequent releases. This year the band unveiled their most ambitious work to date, “The World We Inherited”, produced by the legendary Russ Russell. It truly is a post-metal tour de force and we can’t wait to see them perform the songs live.

Lost To Light is a collective of musicians from bands such as Sworn Amongst, Laguna Sunrise, Skies In Motion, The Cartographer and Path To Prevail. The band is dedicated to channelling their love for music into a powerful outlet that honours the metal traditions they clearly hold dear while nodding to the modern metalcore landscape. Their tech-heavy sound, combined with both melodic and aggressive elements, can draw comparisons to Betray The Martyrs. Having performed alongside Architects, The Devil Wears Prada, Motionless In White, and graced stages at festivals like Download, Lost To Light is set to make a significant impact at Bloodstock 2024.

Praetorian blend heavy, riff-laden sludge with old-school extreme metal and psychedelic elements. Their music, best described as a mix of Pupil Slicer with death metal vocals and sludgy riffs, has rightly been making waves across the UK. With their debut album “Pylon Cult” set to release at the end of 2024, Praetorian's performance at Bloodstock is highly anticipated.

Since their formation in 2013, Sathamel have left a mark on the UK black metal scene with their vicious live performances. Their self-titled EP in 2015 established them as a force to be reckoned with, and their debut album “Horror Vacui” in 2019 solidified their status in the underground black metal community. With new material and a revitalized lineup breathing life into Sathamel’s last year, we’re excited to see a new level of intensity in their Bloodstock performance.

Nominated for "Best Metal Song of 2023" by Metal Hammer and named Kerrang! Radio's “Artist of the Week,” Akkadian are making significant strides in the underground metal scene. Known for their fast, hard-hitting, groove-metal songs with psychedelic undertones, Akkadian’s music delves into themes of ancient history and inter-dimensional travel. Any fans of Lamb of God and Gojira should check these guys out as their set is sure to captivate the Bloodstock audience.

Newcastle’s CROWLEY bring a dark, witchy twist to the classic rock era. Blending doom-laden rock from the late 60s and 70s with modern hard rock tones, their sound is powerful and soulful, led by impressive clean female vocals. Their groove and emotive vibe are sure to enchant the Bloodstock crowd.

Bradford’s Rupcha Farms infuse their northern identity with a unique blend of rap vocals, high-octane metal/punk riffs, and punchy electronica. Known for their energetic and lawless anthems, their sound resonates with today’s disgruntled generation. Their music can be compared to a fusion of Skindred, UK grime, and Prodigy (a hell of a lot of Prodigy tbf), and fans of Borders and Hacktivist can’t afford to miss what promises to be a dynamic and unforgettable performance.

Featuring members from bands like 1968, Decomposed, Oak, Mourn, Blood Island Raiders, and Brule, Flamebearer deliver traditional doom-tinged heavy metal. Inspired by classic 70s rock and 80s metal, their sound blends big riffs and choruses reminiscent of Black Sabbath, Angel Witch, and Trouble. Fronted by former Oak vocalist Andrew Valiant, Flamebearer is set to deliver a powerful performance at Bloodstock.

With a sound reminiscent of early Northlane, Parting With Origin excel at transitioning between heavy, aggressive verses and soaring, melodic choruses. Known for their tech-heavy music, they are a perfect fit for Tech Fest and are set to captivate the Bloodstock audience with their dynamic and emotive performance.

Public Execution are a three-piece grindcore/hardcore band from the South East of England, formed by current members of Trading Hands and Korrupto. They specialise in delivering intense and raw performances, so expect a brutal and high-energy set that will leave a lasting impact.

Goblinsmoker’s music features long, doom-laden songs with death metal vocals, creating a dark and immersive atmosphere. Their unique storytelling, centred around the Toad King (don’t ask me!), adds a captivating narrative element to their performances.

Combining the spirit of Celtic punk with the energy of immigrant vagabonds and traveling rovers, The Gallowgate Murders deliver a booze-fuelled performance. Featuring male and female fronted vocals and a mix of traditional instruments like the mandolin, banjo, and tin whistle, their sound is reminiscent of Flogging Molly, promising a lively and feelgood set.

Formed in 2021, Nottingham’s neurotic hardcore duo Rogue Limb express their frustration at virtually everything through breakneck riffs, rhythmic chaos, and feral duelling vocals. Their sound incorporates pretty much every element of heavy music you can imagine, resulting in an unhinged and exhilarating experience. They truly are a sight to behold, and well worth catching at Bloodstock.

London’s Them Bloody Kids blend punk, groove metal, crunching riffs and catchy choruses. They create hard-hitting, energetic, and catchy songs, and working with producer Justin Paul Hill, they have garnered significant attention with their debut album and emotionally charged subsequent single releases. Their music promises a powerful performance to go with their memorable songwriting. Fans of Therapy? will definitely love these guys – trust me. 

With vocals reminiscent of Malevolence and a classic groove metal hardcore sound, Judgement deliver churning, heavy music. Their sound, best described as a modern Earthtone9, is set to bring a powerful and engaging performance to the Bloodstock stage.

Bringing a ferocious blend of hardcore thrash and slam, Disposable are a force to be reckoned with. Their sound channels the intensity of bands like Ingested, delivering relentless energy and aggression. Fans can expect a high-octane performance that will leave a lasting impression.
