Bloodstock Festival Countdown : 30 Bands Not To Miss - Tailgunner
26. Tailgunner - Sophie Lancaster Stage - Thursday, August 8th 2024
Here at ROCKFLESH towers we've been in a bit of a tizz about Tailgunner for a good while. They seem to have done the impossible and unified our distinctly arbitrary writers. Whether it be our glam loving maidens, our NWOBHM sages who remember it first time around, our death metal deviants or are holier than thou hard-core kids, every single person who puts words together for a publication has a massive crush on Tailgunner. The reason is they are bonafide route 101 metal.
They are a maiden tribute act who has decided to make their own material and in doing so has managed to surpass any of that pap Steve and the boys churned out between seventh son and brave new world. They manage to enlight within all of us (even the most cynical, jaded and french) that fire and passion that made us fall in love with this music in the first place. They are true metal personified and with them playing Bloodstock this is true metal coming home.
I just love Metal. I love it all. The bombastity of symphonic, the brutality of death, the rousing choruses of power, the nihilistic evil of black, the pounding atmospherics of doom, the whirling time changes of prog, the faithful familiarity of trad, the other worldlyness of post, the sheer unrefined power of thrash. I love it all!
