Bloodstock Festival Countdown : 30 Bands Not To Miss - Green Lung
21. Green Lung - Ronnie James Dio Stage - Friday, August 9th 2024 - 12.45 - 13.25
There is a wonderful eccentricity to British metal and Green Lung revels in that. They recount us to a simpler time when nonconformity was about embrace the countryside around us. This is rural, spiritual metal that retreats back to the myths and tales that are at the heart of this emerald isle. Whilst Green Lung may be young, their souls are eternal and link into the ethereal collective that dates back centuries. This is folk metal that understands the inherent darkness at the heart of folklore. It might have jaunty sing-along chorus but it is fuelled by the majestic decaying wonder of the natural world.
Green Lung embrace our rustic past with a stark warning about our impending futures. This is self-aware metal with a stark reminder to remember and embrace our roots before it is too late. Protest music has never sounded so wonderful.
I just love Metal. I love it all. The bombastity of symphonic, the brutality of death, the rousing choruses of power, the nihilistic evil of black, the pounding atmospherics of doom, the whirling time changes of prog, the faithful familiarity of trad, the other worldlyness of post, the sheer unrefined power of thrash. I love it all!
