34. Dawn Of Ouroboros - 'The Art of Morphology'
One of those albums that does its best to defy description. I don’t know were to start, aside from saying that I loved it. It is extreme Metal as there are traits of Black and Death Metal, but it’s also not extreme Metal as it consists of numerous highly melodic and even introspectively ambient sections. One of the crucial components of this album colliding styles is the uncharacteristic vocals of Chelsea Murphy. She can growl with the best of them, but she also has a juxtaposing sultry clean vocal style that fantastically complements the gruff delivery.
“The Art Of Morphology” takes the quiet, quiet, loud, loud, quiet approach to a whole new level. One minute it is a fury of crashing guitars and screaming vocals and then it crashes down into a refined reflective acoustic passage, only then head off into what can only be described as Indie. It is confounding and rather confusing album, but it is also quite brilliant.
